MAJOR YOUTH ROAD EVENTS 2008

National Youth Circuit Race Series

Points will be awarded for the first 12 places in each single day road race and for the top 12 overall in stage races as follows: 25, 21, 17, 14, 12, 10, 9, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3.

Points will be awarded for the first 4 across the line on two pre-designated sprint laps in each closed road circuit race round: 5, 3, 2, 1

The overall competition will be won by the rider who gains the highest number of points gained - a maximum of 6 Races to count

Track Omnium Leagues

U16 Boys, U16 Girls, U14 Boys, U14 Girls and U12s

Points will be awarded for the first twelve placed riders in each round as follows - 30, 25, 21, 17, 14, 12, 10, 9, 7, 6, 5, 4.

The Overall result of each Area competition shall be determined by the points total achieved by each rider. Best three points scores to count.

The top eight overall placed riders in the Youth A & B categories and the top six overall placed riders in the Youth C category each area will qualify for the national final. Where there is a tie on points for the eighth/sixth placed riders in the overall standings in any category/Area Competition, then all such placed riders shall qualify for the final.

British Schools Cycling Association (BSCA)

Qualifying dates for school year 2007/2008

The BSCA year runs with the school year, from 1st September to 31st August - British Cycling's year is a calendar year, 1st January to 31st December- so check that you're not in a different age category for BSCA

• U8 born on or after 1st Sept 1999
• U10 born between 1st Sept 1997 & 31st August 1999 (both dates inclusive)
• U12 born between 1st Sept 1995 & 31st August 1997 (both dates inclusive)
• U14 born between 1st Sept 1993 & 31st August 1995 (both dates inclusive)
• U16 born between 1st Sept 1991 & 31st August 1993 (both dates inclusive)
• O16 born between 1st Sept 1989 & 31st August 1991 (both dates inclusive)

Sutton Cycling Club/De Ver Cycles Club is affiliated to BSCA (Membership No SE1029) and the Club applies for your membership card, which you do not have to pay for. (NB: This card is not the same as a British Cycling Racing Licence.) If you forget your card on the day of the race, you have to pay a day membership fee of £1.00.

When you compete in BSCA events, you ride for your school, not the Club. You can download entry forms from their website Click Here, but remember that the Parental Consent section must always be signed.

IMPORTANT NOTE - These details were taken from the BSCA website on 25th February, so it's a good idea to check with the organiser before the event.

It is too late for the first two National Championships, but the Cyclo-Cross was in Yorkshire and the other was Roller Racing. In the past, the Cyclo-Cross has been more accessible for us.
