TOURING GROUP

Our group meets each Saturday morning at various countryside locations in and around the North Downs / Surrey Hills area, and generally our rides take between 2 - 4 hours. We ride mostly off-road on mountain bikes throughout the year, and as a few of our members have been riding from a very young age and are now in their late teens they have got to know lots of bridleways and are capable of navigating their own way around the countryside.

We regularly take part in organised "Trailblazer" rides which are very demanding rides over varying distances, often extremely muddy. Our group are more than capable of completing these rides, which are mainly ridden by adults.

The group ethos is relaxed and non-competitive (although most of us endeavour to ride the climbs as fast as possible and this does add a competitive element) but above all we encourage our riders to enjoy their riding!

A food and hot drink stop is an important part of the morning's activity and we have got to know most of the tearooms in the area.

Trips away, staying in youth hostels, are sometimes organised over half term / Bank Holiday weekends. In the past we have have been to the South Downs, the Isle of Wight and Wales.

Like most things in life, if you really enjoy something and practise it for long enough, then ultimately you will become proficient at it - and cycling is no different. Our core group of young people has become fitter, leaner and altogether more competent bike riders, riding in all weathers through demanding North Downs / Surrey Hills terrain.

We always welcome new youngsters, so if you are aged 12 and over and reasonably fit come join in the fun!
